My Writing Community

About me

I was born and raised in Missouri, but I’ve also lived in California, Georgia, Kansas, and New York. Mapping it, I guess that’s taken me from sea to shining sea, as well as in and out of the heartland.

Dianna Sinovic

I have lived in suburbs, cities and small towns. Currently, I live in rural southeastern Pennsylvania on three acres of woods.

I can’t live without writing, and I can’t live without music. I have at various times studied the piano, the flute, the electric guitar, and the Celtic harp.

When I’m not writing, editing, or coaching writers, I’m likely reading or running/hiking or listening to music. I’m fond of college radio: my favorites are WPRB in Princeton, NJ, and KVCU in Boulder, CO.

I’m co-chair of the Stover Mill Art Gallery housed in a historic grist mill,  and also serve as  the volunteer treasurer at my local library, a tiny place filled with lots of good books.

My husband is a master craftsman of woodwind instruments who has also built a wooden canoe. We enjoy paddling on Lake Nockamixon or the Delaware River – in solo or tandem canoes.

Our household includes a budgie named Fia (for Sofia Mendez, one of the principal characters in Maria Doria Russell’s The Sparrow and Children of God).

My writing community

I’m a member of the national groups Sisters in Crime, the Horror Writers Association, and the Editorial Freelancers Association. In addition, I belong to the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group, where I am the current anthology chair, and the Bethlehem Writers Group, where I am on the executive committee. I’m also in a small group of writers who call themselves the Hive; we write horror together.
